B-Flat Harmonic Progression

"Sounds okay"

date: November 22, 2009

It would be better if you would have made an actual melody out of it, instead of just going up and down the scale. It gets really repetitive, and boring pretty quickly.

Solus- Duet in C Minor

"it was ok"

date: June 21, 2009

It sounded uninspired to me, though that's just my opinion, and I don't really hear any classical elements in this piece, another disappointment. I think it gets pretty repetitive and boring. I also think it sounds like a techno/electronica genre, but with a piano instead of the synths.

A good composition, but I don't like it that much, so I'll grade on effort.

Brando - Pure & Tainted

"wel..."

date: June 19, 2009

I see this as a common misconception here on newgrounds. Just because you used a piano, doesn't mean it's classical. To me it sounds like you took a electronic genre song and added a piano. The second half was the only thing I think could barley pass as "neo-classical".

The song was ok, but it's the same thing as electronica music, which gets kind of repetitive, only with a paino.

Author's Response:

Yeah I can understand your point of view. I really wasn't sure what to classify this. I tried to aim for classical but since I'm not a constant listener I had little time to relate it. I think the tunes were too complex to be a piano song, but it really will make a great nustyle tune.

Thanks for the really honest response.

ReF :: Up the hill (Ambient)

"Loved it"

date: June 3, 2009

Reminds me of an ending song. I hate to say it, because I don't watch anime, but I'd imagine this would fit perfectly as the ending song for an anime or something similar. Very catchy, and pleasant to listen to. Sounds great, keep up the good work!

Author's Response:

Anime? Yeah, why not. The bass made me think of a reggae song for some reason.

Thanks for listening!

awesome, It was funny to listen to. What VST did you use for the accordion? Sounds real!

Great song, catchy and funny lol

June 9, 2009

Author's Response:

I don't remember which VST it was.. Usually I don't open up completed projects and I have hundreds of saved files on my computer, and that one I've saved with another name than "Accordeon" I guess.

A Cello's Quintet

"well"

Sounds pretty good. I know I have the same problem when I write my pieces in MIDI format, The least you could do is add some dynamics, change the volume levels. Also, it could have been better with some good panning, I'm not sure if you did pan the instruments, but to me it sounded like it needs some work.

Remember, at least change the dynamics! If you write the midi files in guitar pro, there's a tool that actually does the dynamics through the whole song for you!

May 3, 2009

Author's Response:

Yes i know i know, dynamics are super important. But the prograsm I use isnt very good. Dynamics are almost pointless with the midi... I did not plan this one out, but I usually do plan alot of the stuff I write though. This one was kind of a spur of the moment. Ive never heard of guitar pro but I will look it up.

Ode to the lonely

"cool"

submission: Ode to the lonely

I wouldn't classify this under classical, although the progression kind of sounds classical. This reminds me of a lot of modern day Japanese piano stuff.

The first 1 minute sounds good, btu after that it got kinda boring. Still good though!

I really liked this! I This is really great, The attention to detail was very good, I just wish I had that attention to detail, or even a computer that can let me lol. I'm glad you were inspired by my piece, it makes me feel special =P.

Great job, listening to this gives me a lot more ideas as well!

Journey to the East ~P~

"Awesome!"

date: April 7, 2009

While some parts may sound a bit repetitive, it doesn't seem that noticeable because of the change of instruments. The transitions were really good, and the instruments were very eastern. Really good job on this, judges won't have too hard of a decision

April 7, 2009

Author's Response:

Yeah maybe... but with the time limit on the songs I didn't have room to expand any extra themes. I may do a longer remake of this though.
As for the instruments, the only Chinese ones in there were the Guzheng, the Pipa, and the Erhu. Most of the instruments were western as all the others used were the piccolo, flute, violin, viola, cello, and timpani.
